The College of Nursing offers an Accelerated BSN (ABSN) curriculum for qualified and highly motivated students who have already earned a bachelor's degree in another field and desire a career change. The full-time campus-based 12 month ABSN program incorporates all of the components of a traditional bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This program also offers students access to a variety of educational and clinical experiences as well as expert nursing faculty and technological resources. The rapid pace of the ABSN curriculum demands a full-time commitment to academics.
The graduate of the Florida State University ABSN program is well-prepared to complete the national licensure exam to become a registered nurse (RN) and practice in all health care settings. Graduates from accelerated nursing programs are highly valued by employers who recognize the additional skills and education these graduates bring to the workplace.
The Florida State University College of Nursing BSN programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Applications for the Accelerated BSN program will be accepted from December 1st through February 1st for consideration and review for Fall admission. Admissions decisions are typically made six weeks after the application deadline. Applications will not be reviewed by the admissions committee until after the application period has ended on February 1st. You may fill out the ABSN application prior to receiving an admissions decision from the university, but you must apply to both the university and to the College of Nursing by February 1st.
