College of Nursing / Academics / Traditional BSN Program

Traditional BSN Program

Traditional BSN Program

  • The traditional BSN program is a 2-year course of study. Students are admitted to the College of Nursing program after they have completed the nursing prerequisites and either the Liberal Studies requirements and at FSU (60 semester hours) or earned an Associates of Arts degree from a Florida public institution. Students with degrees or course work from Florida private or out-of-state institutions will receive a course by course evaluation to determine if they have satisfied these requirements.
  • The College of Nursing is located in Duxbury Hall, a modern four-story facility with technology enhanced classrooms and lecture halls. Our patient simulators, clinical labs, research tools, and study areas provide students with an exceptional learning environment. Clinical experiences are planned in the College's simulation center and throughout a variety of regional health care agencies.
  • The Florida State University College of Nursing BSN programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Effective Fall of 2015, the College of Nursing will transition away from freshman admissions and will now admit students into the University as pre-nursing students to begin their prerequisite courses. After completing these prerequisite courses and liberal studies requirements, students can then apply to the Traditional BSN program for the fall semester. Please see the PDF below under Additional Information to read more about the Traditional BSN admissions process.
  • A limited number of students will be admitted to the Traditional BSN program on a space available basis. Applications will be accepted from December 1st through February 1st.
