The Legacy Project

Mission

The purpose of the College of Nursing Legacy Project is to preserve, protect and showcase the legacy of nursing education at Florida State University. Students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and friends have expressed this history through published, unpublished, audio, and visual materials, memorabilia, and ceremonial objects.

Vision

We envision the College of Nursing's Legacy Project as a benchmark for other nursing programs across the nation whose goal is the historic preservation of nursing history at their institution.

Values

Preservation of the history of the College of Nursing program at Florida State University.

Protection of College of Nursing history and historical artifacts so researchers and future generations of nursing students can use them to appreciate and become more knowledgeable of the history of nursing education at Florida State University.

Caring about the CON alumni, students, faculty/staff and this legacy of excellence.

Respect for our alumni, students, faulty and staff and their contributions to the Legacy Project of funds, reminiscences, and historical artifacts.


Goals

  • To ensure the preservation of historical objects related to the history of the College of Nursing.

  • Capturing memories of student life for nursing students at FSU over the decades.

  • Portray the evolution of nursing education at FSU in a chronological depiction of school experiences across the decades since the 1950s.

  • Recognizing the legacy of excellence earned by alumni and all who have contributed to the teaching-learning mission of the College.

  • To create an interactive web site containing the historic database to share with anyone interested in researching the history of the College of Nursing.

  • To create a virtual museum of items that best represent the College of Nursing history to share with our students, faculty, staff, administrators, friends and alumni.
