Accelerated BSN Program

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the Florida State University College of Nursing is a key that will open many doors for you as a professional nurse. Since 1950, the program’s 6,000 alumni have set very high standards of nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership and professionalism throughout the state of Florida and around the United States and the world.

The College of Nursing offers an Accelerated BSN (ABSN) curriculum for qualified and highly motivated students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree in another field. The full-time campus-based 12-month ABSN program incorporates all of the components of a traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This program also offers students access to a variety of educational and clinical experiences as well as expert nursing faculty and technological resources. The rapid pace of the ABSN curriculum demands a full-time commitment to academics.

The graduate of the Florida State University ABSN program is well-prepared to successfully complete the national exam to become a registered nurse (RN) and practice in all health care settings – acute care, ambulatory, community health and mental health. Graduates from accelerated nursing programs are highly valued by employers who recognize the additional skills and education these graduates bring to the workplace.

The Florida State University College of Nursing has been approved by the Florida Board of Nursing since 1950. We have been accredited by the National League for Nursing since the first class graduated in 1952. We are also accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Applications for the Accelerated BSN program will be accepted from July 1st through September 1st.
