BIOGRAPHY
•    Dr. Ahn’s program of research aims to enhance health and independence in vulnerable populations using innovative technologies to optimize pain and symptom management. His combined nursing, medicine, and computer engineering expertise uniquely positions him to address critical gaps in research on brain mechanisms underlying pain and other chronic symptoms and to deliver nonpharmacological intervention to improve pain and symptom management. He is sought after for his expertise in identifying biopsychosocial determinants that influence pain and disability and developing innovative pain management interventions and assessments. He has been continuously funded since 2011 as a principal investigator (total > $ 3.8 million) and has produced more than 120 peer-reviewed publications and presentations. He has served as a grant reviewer for several study sections in the National Institute on Health, Department of Defense, and Department of Veterans Affairs, and grant director at the Southern Nursing Research Society.
