Over the past 25 years, Dr. Hartline has made a significant impact on the nursing profession through direct patient care, nursing leadership, nurse education, and nursing management and administration.  Dr. Hartline’s interests include compassion fatigue, creating and fostering a healthy work environment, and decreasing workplace violence and nurse burnout – all with the goal of improving working conditions for nurses and enabling them to focus on quality patient care.  Dr. Hartline also has a keen interest in medical-surgical nursing, quality measures, staffing models and improving patient outcomes.

Since coming to FSU, Dr. Hartline has taught live clinical courses in the hospital setting and experiential courses in the nursing simulation lab.  She also works to connect the College of Nursing with hospitals and healthcare facilities in the Big Bend region.  Dr. Hartline is the faculty advisor for the Nursing Learning Community, a living-learning community in Wildwood Hall that is designed for freshmen students interested in nursing careers.

Dr. Hartline earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Samford University (Birmingham, AL), a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Florida State University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (Little Rock, AR), and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (BSE) from Jacksonville State University (Jacksonville, AL).
