The Veteran's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (VBSN) program provides medics, corpsmen, and non-medical veterans access to our undergraduate nursing education programs as a full-time, campus-based student. There are two degree options that lead to the BSN for eligible veterans - the Traditional BSN or the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program.
All Veterans are eligible for admission to the traditional two-year program. Veterans who served as corpsman or medics are eligible for admission to the 3 semester Accelerated BSN program.
Unique support will be provided to assist former service members with the educational process and their transition to a career in nursing. Graduates of our BSN programs are well-prepared for the national licensure exam (NCLEX) to become a registered nurse (RN) and have the foundation necessary to pursue graduate degrees if desired.
Students are admitted into the nursing program after they have completed an interview process, personal essay statement, their nursing prerequisites, Liberal Studies/General Education requirements and have earned an Associates of Arts degree from a Florida public institution. Students with degrees and/or course work from other educational institutions / military training will receive a course by course evaluation to determine if they have satisfied all requirements for admission into the FSU nursing program.
Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Military (DD-214).
Traditional BSN applicants are required to have a minimum overall GPA of a 3.0, a science GPA of 3.0, and a grade of B - or higher in all prerequisite courses.
Accelerated BSN applicants are required to have a minimum overall GPA of a 3.0, a science GPA of 3.0, and a grade of a B - or higher in all prerequisite courses (Only corpsman or medics can opt for this option, with an Associates in Arts or Bachelor’s Degree).
