Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions about our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
FSU College of Nursing BSN program admits students every semester (Fall, Spring and Summer). Every admit term is the same duration, which is four consecutive semesters (15-16 months).
We no longer offer an accelerated nursing program. All BSN cohorts are now the same length, which mirrors the timeline of the accelerated program (4 consecutive semesters). The previous “traditional” BSN program was four semesters with a summer in the middle. This option is no longer offered.
The expedited timeline of the program was integrated in order to allow the College of Nursing to prepared students for the workforce more quickly as well as expand the programs ability to increase the student population and offer nursing education to more students.
No, the BSN program is full-time in person program in Tallahassee for the first three semesters. Semester 4 is asynchronous, meaning you can complete your coursework anywhere across the state where we have an affiliation agreement.
All prerequisite courses must be successfully completed with a C or better by the end of the semester in which you are applying to the program. (end of Spring for Fall, end of Summer for Spring, and end of Fall for Summer). See Admission Requirements for more information regarding these guidelines. Also, is HIGHLY recommended that students complete all General Education requirements for the state of Florida before starting the nursing program.
FSU accepts credit by testing for all of our prerequisite courses.
All grades factor into a student’s overall GPA. However, if a science course is repeated, the higher grade will be used to calculate the science GPA.
We typically receive around 300 -400 applications per semester for the BSN program and can admit 150 qualified applicants each admit term.
Meeting the minimum requirements DOES NOT guarantee admission into the program.
Prerequisite courses can be taken at any accredited university or community college. We recommend current FSU students to complete nursing prerequisites at FSU.
How do I know if the prerequisite course I am enrolled in is accepted as a course equivalent at FSU?
