Dr. Carla Dormeus, EdD, MS, CHSOS, CHSE, has been involved in higher education for the past 22 years. She dedicated the last 14 to simulation as a training tool for healthcare students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Healthcare is an evolving field where new technologies meet with the practice of medicine. As educators, especially in healthcare, she feels that there is a need to design instructional activities to maximize performance improvement and, therefore, patient safety. Her research interests focus on implementing best practices and evaluating a simulation program that meets the needs for educating students in healthcare professions and refreshing and enhancing the skills and knowledge of employers and employees in the healthcare community.
