Liying Wang is an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing at Florida State University. As a clinical psychologist, her research is rooted in translational clinical science, with a strong commitment to community-engaged and participatory approaches. She utilizes both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to examine the social determinants of health among marginalized groups such as people living with HIV and sexual and gender minorities. Leveraging her understanding of these communities and insights gained through close collaboration with community partners, Dr. Wang develops culturally appropriate digital psychosocial interventions that are tailored to address mental health disparities and enhance resilience.
Her research program combines clinical science with human-centered design principles to create scalable, AI-enhanced mHealth interventions. Adopting a global-to-local approach, her work in China and Southeast Asia informs the development of culturally sensitive interventions. By harnessing the power of generative AI and embracing social media platforms, she aims to leverage technology to improve access to mental health resources and coping skills training, especially among underserved populations.
