Mandy D. Bamber, PhD, RN is a registered nurse with a background in obstetrics and women's health nursing. She received her BSN and MSN in nursing education from Florida State University and her PhD from Saint Louis University. The primary focus of her program of research is exploring the psychological and physiological effects of caregiving on parents and guardians of children with special healthcare needs. She is currently undertaking a study that explores the additional implications of COVID-19 restrictions on the health and wellbeing of this population of caregivers. Her long-term goals are to develop culturally appropriate self-implemented self-care interventions for the parents and guardians of children with special healthcare needs that will decrease the negative psychological and physiological effects of caregiving. Her other research interests include mindfulness-based interventions to treat negative physiological and psychological effects in various populations and obstetric emergency recognition training to reduce poor maternal outcomes.
