Alyson Urbaniak is the program manager of science and research for the Center for Population Sciences for Health Empowerment (CPSHE), with five years of experience in research administration. She first joined CPSHE as a research coordinator for the NIH-funded Florida FIRST project, supporting early-career faculty members in developing programs of research focused on chronic disease management and mental health. In earlier work as a research assistant at FSU’s Center for Translational Behavioral Science (CTBS), she led operations of the EPIS (Exploration, Preparation, Implementation and Sustainment) model lost-to-follow-up study and the Scale It Up Florida project, part of the Adolescent Trials Network (ATN).

In her current role, Urbaniak serves as project manager for CPSHE’s interdisciplinary, multi-investigator grants, including Beyond Shelters, BRAVE, Project Elevate, VINA STEAM and the FDA-awarded contract Modernizing and Decentralizing Clinical Trials. She ensures that extramurally funded research activities operate efficiently and in alignment with agency and university guidelines and oversees the grant life cycle process.

Urbaniak earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Florida State University with a minor in Russian language and literature, though her longstanding passion lies in public health and improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations. She has volunteered with several local organizations, providing clinical intake support for Big Bend Cares/CarePoint Health & Wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic and assisting recovering patients in the Surgical Care Unit at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Prior to joining CPSHE, she worked as a medical assistant and clinical coordinator in family medicine, both in private practice and at FSU PrimaryHealth. Outside of work, Urbaniak enjoys traveling and supporting local arts with her fiancé.
