Florida State University’s College of Nursing is celebrating a significant rise in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 “Best Nursing Schools: Doctor of Nursing Practice” rankings. The program is ranked No. 1 in the state and has jumped an impressive 51 spots in three years, landing at No. 17 among national public universities and No. 26 overall. 

“This significant rise in national recognition is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our world-class faculty and high-achieving students,” said Jing Wang, dean of the College of Nursing. “Our commitment to excellence in research, innovation and student success is fueling this program’s upward trajectory.”

The program boasts five specialized tracks—Adult Gerontology Acute Care, Executive Health Systems Leadership, Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health and Lifestyle Medicine— empowering graduates to pursue diverse leadership roles within the healthcare landscape.

The U.S. News ranking methodology considers many factors, including student outcomes, peer assessment and faculty credentials and scholarship. FSU’s Doctor of Nursing Practice ascent in these crucial areas reflects its commitment to providing a well-rounded educational experience that prepares graduates to excel in the ever-evolving healthcare environment.

This rise in national prominence comes on the heels of the college’s recent research ranking trajectory. The College of Nursing secured the No. 1 ranking for public schools in federal research funding according to the NIH RePORTER and the No. 2 ranking for public schools in NIH funding according to the 2023 Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research.
