DNP in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care
Overview
This major is designed to prepare nurses for the highest level of clinical practice as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP). We recommend that students entering the AGACNP major have at least one to two years of RN direct patient care experience in an acute care setting. The major is designed in accordance with the AACN Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Practice Nursing, the NONPF Core competencies, and Population Focus Nurse Practitioner Competencies. Upon completion of this program, graduates will be are awarded the DNP degree and are eligible to sit for the AGACNP certification examination through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).
This program is available for full-time and part-time study, with coursework delivered primarily online. Throughout the program, students are required to attend four day-sessions on the main campus at Florida State University. Most courses include both synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous components, with approximately three to five synchronous Zoom class sessions scheduled each semester.

Graduation Requirements
Successful completion of all post-baccalaureate, graduate course work. This coursework includes successful completion of all core courses with a grade of B or higher and a DNP project.
Cumulative GPA in the program of 3.0 or higher.
The DNP degree must be completed within seven (7) calendar years from the time of formal matriculation into the program

Application Requirements
1. BSN degree from a nationally accredited program with an upper division grade point average of 3.0 or higher or MSN degree from a nationally accredited program with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
2. Applicants that already hold an MSN degree must submit proof of clinical hours completed for the MSN program (Send summary of clinical hours from Typhon or contact the institution that awarded the MSN and have them email a letter to the College of Nursing stating the total of clinical hours completed for the program).
3. Applicants that already hold an MSN degree must submit copies of course syllabi for Adv. Pathophysiology, Adv. Health Assessment, Adv. Pharmacology and any other course they wish to transfer to the DNP program. If an applicant does not have the required discrete courses, they will be required to complete them during the program.
4. Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended.
5. Unencumbered and unrestricted RN license.
6. Three (3) letters of recommendation.
7. Current CV or resume.
