Florida State University’s College of Nursing has launched the nation’s first master’s degree combining artificial intelligence and health care with a curriculum that will expand digital health initiatives into clinical benefits for patients through more advanced, efficient and personalized care.

Florida State University’s College of Nursing Clinical Assistant Professor Rylan Douthett has been appointed to serve on the Florida Health Care Innovation Council. Douthett is one of only five new appointees selected by Gov. Ron DeSantis to serve on the council whose mission is to explore and promote best practices in health care by evaluating new technologies and strategies that can be scaled to benefit all Floridians.

Three Florida State University researchers have been elected to the Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine of Florida (ASEMFL). Professor of Nursing Lisa Hightow-Weidman, Professor of Physics Stephen Hill and Professor of Physics Laura Reina are all a part of this year’s class that will be inducted during the Annual Meeting of the Academy to be held in Orlando on Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2.

United States Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra has invited Florida State University College of Nursing Dean Jing Wang to serve on the agency’s National Advisory Council for Nursing Research (NACNR) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Per the NACNR charter, the council advises the secretary and the director of the National Institute of Nursing Research at NIH.

Dr. Carli Culjat, an Associate Professor at Florida State University’s College of Nursing, is running for president-elect of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN). With experience as a nurse practitioner and a commitment to healthcare literacy in underserved communities, Dr. Culjat brings expertise and passion to her candidacy. Her nomination is supported by FSU’s College of Nursing Dean, Jing Wang. Dr. Culjat's previous roles at NAHN focused on healthcare disparities and preventative cancer care for Hispanic communities. She seeks support from NAHN members and stakeholders in promoting equity and excellence in healthcare.

A team of researchers at Florida State University has received a $1 million grant to develop a tool to help older patients better understand the results of medical lab health tests.

Florida State University’s College of Nursing is celebrating a significant rise in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 “Best Nursing Schools: Doctor of Nursing Practice” rankings. The program is ranked No. 1 in the state and has jumped an impressive 51 spots in three years, landing at No. 17 among national public universities and No. 26 overall.
