Certificate Programs

Our AGACNP certificate program has a focus on advanced practice, adult acute care nursing as a specialty area. A multi-theoretical model is used to examine issues relevant to acute care delivery and complex illness throughout the adult’s life span.  The program prepares students to provide expert, critical care to patients; they will be educated through online class work, laboratory time, and clinical rotations to care for acutely ill patients in the hospital.  In addition to a curriculum of didactic lectures using an online format, AGACNP training includes simulation exercises structured to specifically train students in diagnosis and treatment of the critically ill. Technical and procedural skills required to work in an ICU setting are also taught.

This program is online; however, a majority of the courses have a synchronous component, which means that face to face zoom classes will be schedules throughout the semester depending on the course.

This post-masters nurse practitioner/post-DNP nurse practitioner program requires the student to take 22 credit hours and have had participated in at least 780 clinical hours.  This allows the student to sit for the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification examination. Students must have 3 discrete courses in Advanced Patho, Advanced Health Assessment, and Pharmacology Across the Lifespan prior to starting the program. Applicants are required to submit course syllabi for each course to determine if the courses are across the lifespan. If an applicant does not have the required discrete courses, they will be required to complete them prior to completing the AGAC certificate program.

Post Master AGACNP Certificate

The online Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate is open to all registered nurses that hold at least a master’s degree in nursing (MSN) and have completed the following graduate-level courses before starting the program: Advanced Health Assessment, Advanced Pathophysiology, and Advanced Pharmacology. Applicants are required to submit course syllabi for each course to determine if the courses are across the lifespan. If an applicant does not have the required discrete courses, they will be required to complete them prior to completing the FNP certificate program. The FNP certification program has a focus on advanced practice, family practice as a specialty area. The multi-theoretical model is used to examine issues relevant to family practice across the lifespan. The program prepares students to provide expert care for family practice patients. Students are educated through online class work, laboratory time, and clinical rotations in family practice settings. As mentioned, this program is online. However, most courses have a synchronous component. Face-to-face Zoom classes are scheduled throughout the semester depending on the course.

The online Psychiatric Mental Health Certificate is a post-masters/post-DNP certification program available to certified Nurse Practitioner graduates who would like to gain additional knowledge in advanced practice psychiatric mental health nursing of family.  Incoming graduate students must have taken the following graduate level courses prior to starting the program:  Advance Health Assessment, Advance Pathophysiology, and Advance Pharmacology. Applicants are required to submit course syllabi for each course to determine if the courses are across the lifespan. If an applicant does not have the required discrete courses, they will be required to complete them prior to completing the PMH certificate program.

The program prepares students to provide comprehensive and integrative psychiatric mental health care to those in need of psychiatric services, as well as those who are at risk. The certificate will allow the graduate to sit for the Psychiatric Mental Health Certification.

This program is online; and the courses have an  asynchronous component, which means any face-to-face zoom classes will be recorded throughout the semester and can be watched later by the student. 

The program has 24 graduate level credits of mental health theory and 780 hours of supervised clinical experiences in three psychotherapeutic treatment modalities (individual, group and family) and encompasses treatment across the life span, from childhood through senescence. Adult NPs are required to take an additional 3 hour Pediatric course and Pediatric NPs are required to take an additional 3 hours Adult and Women Advance Practice course. The rational for this requirement stems from the ANCC Consensus Model APRN Consensus Model and Licensure, Accreditation, Certification, Education (LACE) which has adopted a lifespan approach for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner PMH APRN certification, which includes preparing PMH-APRN to care for individuals, family, groups, and communities from pre-birth.

Post Master's or Post DNP NP to Psychiatric Mental Health Certificate

Lifestyle Medicine is an evidence-based, interdisciplinary approach that examines the biological, psychosocial, and environmental influences of a person’s chronic physical and mental illness across the lifespan. This approach focuses on the importance of a whole food, plant-predominant diet, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connection in the treatment and reversal of chronic disease.

This post master’s Lifestyle Medicine certificate program focuses on expanding the knowledge base of advanced practice nurses, specifically in the areas of health promotion and disease prevention. 

This online certificate program is available to individuals who hold a Master’s degree in a health-related discipline (including Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Physical/Occupational Therapy) who would like to gain additional knowledge and competency in providing lifestyle-focused interventions in the care of patients with chronic illnesses.
